High Yielding Corn Production with Subsurface Drip Irrigation

چکیده
This corn intensification study was conducted under subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) from 2017 to 2021 at the Kansas State University Northwest Research-Extension Center near Colby, KS. Two hybrids (Pioneer 1151 and Pioneer 11197) were grown with advanced fertilization three plant densities (42,000, 38,000, 34,000 plants/a) using levels (115, 100, or 85% of calculated well-watered ET minus rain). Average yields 259, 257, 254 bu/a for 115, - Rain respectively, indicating that does not have increase crop when SDI. Both yielded well, greater than plants/a attained slightly yields.

Narrow Row Corn Production with Subsurface Drip Irrigation
In the southeastern U.S. Coastal Plains, supplemental irrigation is required to reduce the impact of short‐term droughts and yield‐reducing plant water stress that can occur at least biennially. Sprinkler irrigation is commonly used to water agronomic crops in the region. Microirrigation is typically used for high value fruit and vegetable crops. In recent years and at some locations, microirri...
متن کاملEffect of Nitrogen Application Timing on Corn Production Using Subsurface Drip Irrigation
The use of subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) in row-crop agriculture is increasing because of potential increases in water and nutrient use efficiency. Research-based information is needed to manage N 'applications through SDI systems in field com (Zea-mays L.) production. This study was conducted to assess the effect of different inseason SDI system N application timings :on corn produ6tion and...
متن کاملComparison of Subsurface Drip Irrigation Uniformity Designs on Cotton Production
One of the biggest obstacles to the widespread adoption of subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) on the High Plains of Texas is the high cost of initial installation. In some cases, SDI costs can be reduced if systems are designed using lower irrigation uniformity standards. The question becomes “what is the cost in terms of cotton lint yield of lowering the uniformity standards for SDI design?” A S...
متن کاملAdvantages and Disadvantages of Subsurface Drip Irrigation
The advantages and disadvantages of subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) as compared to alternative irrigation systems are conceptually discussed. Each category (advantages and disadvantages) is subdivided into three groups: 1) Water and soil issues; 2) Cropping and cultural practices, and 3) System infrastructure issues. The adaptation and adoption of SDI systems into diverse cropping systems, geo...
متن کاملAdvantages and Disadvantages of Subsurface Drip Irrigation
Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) applies water directly to the crop root zone using buried polyethy lene tubing, also known as a dripline, dripperline, or drip tape (Figure 1). Driplines come in varying diam eters and thicknesses in order to maintain acceptable irrigation uniformity for different field lengths. Smaller diameter driplines are used when short lateral lengths are required. As la...
